My artwork is blatantly about the human condition, birth, death, love and hate. I've spent much time working in the negative space documenting the underdog and its darkness. This latest body of work emerged at a time of great manipulation, deceit and hatred, Planes being over powered and flying into buildings, Trains exploding, 'the Axes Of Evil' and 'Weapons of Mass Destruction', " their seemed to be so much hatred and the development for hatred on such a vast scale, in a way I needed to impress the word LOVE as a method of compensation". Its not a comment on who did what to whom, or its rights and wrongs. These early expressions were on advertising billboards or the pavement as a single stroke, or on tea shirts. This work has been referenced against John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 'Give Peace A Chance' slogans during the Vietnam war.
TraTracy Emin's work is sometimes interpreted as being her process of healing. Art or Therapy is often questioned here. By exposing her past actions and private thoughts. She is the art. The topic is her. This body of work dealing with the word LOVE, may also be viewed that the past is the past without recourse and the over compensating, the preacher, the spreading the gospel, is the only healing possible for the future.
This work also has encouraged me to evolve the method of communication from the Art Gallery walls to everybody. These two prototypes from a larger series, await an appropriate location, are for all. The most beautiful point is that I donšt own the feelings in response to the work, it is the link to us all, yet I'm just facilitating the conversation.
