I always feel that to die with grace and dignity is a great conclusion to a life.
Murphy had an inoperable Cancer. This very personal account is of one person's bond, Nicole Ritchie and the loss of Murphy her horse.
Putting an animal to sleep may be difficult but putting a horse to sleep is very difficult. Horses can sleep standing up, and the first part of the process is to give a horse a sedative. This calms the horse but may encourage horse, and Murphy, to remain standing. My concern was how Murphy was going to get from standing sedated position to the laying position after his lethal injection in a graceful and dignified manner, Murphy died with grace, it was an honour to be there.
